Across the parish of Lynsted with Kingsdown, the agricultural history is clear in the patterns of occupation by the people who lived near to their farms and the estates they served. The day-to-day (dawn-to-dusk) managment of the land and its produce needed people to be close to the areas of production. Whereas many supporting shared crafts and services could be found on Greenstreet with its easier access for other communities and passing traffic through the toll-roads.
Tickham, Loyterton, Nouds, Erriotwood, Bogle and Claxfield are all small centres of population with their own distinct character. In Kingsdown, there is also the small cluster of Bluetown.
