Imperial War Museum War Partnership logoFirst World War - Unknown Local Soldiers

World War 1 soldier at restFrom time to time we are shown photographs of First World War Soldiers taken by A.E. Ferris. Mr Ferris was a fascinating local man who was both the Fire Chief in the Teynham and Lynsted Fire Brigade at its creation and an early photographer who lived in Greenstreet (what is now Woodthorpe Cottage, London Road). We believe A.E. Ferris took many soldiers' photographs produced as postcards that were given to families as keepsakes and for sharing between family members.

However, Mr Ferris very rarely added the subject of a photograph, so some detective work is needed. If you have photographs by A.E. Ferris, the Society would very much like to hear from you.

So, here are some images - can you help us identify these soldiers?

Do you know who I am?
