TQ 96 SW LYNSTED LUDGATE LANE (north side)
2/70 Heathfield 27.8.52 GV II

House. C16 dated 1580. Timber framed and exposed with plaster infill underbuilt with painted brick; plain tiled roof. Three framed bays to road each of separate build. Left end bay of 1 storey and attic with gabled dormer with carved bargeboards. Central framed bay, close-studded and 2 storeys on plinth with jettied first floor on brackets. Right end bay of 2 storeys on plinth, jettied on dragon posts; continuous jettied right return front. Return hipped roof with gablets. Stacks to rear. Two wood casements on first floor, two C20 metal casements on ground floor, and board door in moulded surround to end left, with C20 five- light mullioned sidelight. Interior beam dated 1580, (See Igglesden,22, 1982, 50).
